Wheels
The wheels on my MK1 are standard and do not do the car any justice what so ever so i am wanting to upgrade.
What types of wheels look good on MK1's?
I am always up for getting some more from the motor so if there is anything out there that will let me get my tourque down to the groung quicker it would be a good idea.
I am not looking for anything ostentasious just to better the overall appearence and hopefully improve performance.
Thanks

Yep, Ronal's are lovely. Can't go far wrong with some BBS cross spokes either

I like ronals got em on my mk2 but my favorites and the ones im sticking on my mk1 are G60/passat steels .Got mine from vw for ?160+vat for 4 which i thought was quite good . Seem to suit anything you bolt them to.

Oddly enough bigger wheels than standard will have a small but noticeable reduction in performance, due to extra weight, rolling resistance and changed gearing. Just so you know!
That said, you can't go wrong with a set of BBS anythings, and the Ronals are tasty too. Most modern styles don't sit well with the mk1 IMHO as they are to soft and curvy for the mk1s stark 'folded paper' lines.
Mine runs on BBS RA (standard on the late Mk2 GTI) when I'm not using the original Pirelli Ps.
Cheers,
Drew.

Completely agree with you drew, which is why I went for the old style alley cats that I stumbled across…

You could try re-posting the web address using underscores instead of spaces - that way you avoid all the %20 stuff - might be the cause.

Look a bit like BBS RJ's. Have a look at : http://www.cybertects.co.uk/scirocco/wheels/
If you take a centre cap off and have a look between the bolt holes, they should be stamped with 'R(something)' that will tell you for sure
Cheers,
Mark

I'll have a look tomorrow, they're not the same as any on that site, I'd like to know where they came from, they're dated '93 so I'm guessing MK3 Golf or Corrado, They look just like 4 stud versions of VR6 Wheels

i reckon wheels comes down to how much money you have and where you park it, have to agree with the ronal's but they are well expensive but look great, mk1 seems happy on 14's and no danger of rubbing on arch or rear legs. them bbs x/spokes look pretty good on mk1's, you can get 14" ones for next to nowt (not them in picture the diamond pattern ones), 185 15's too for less hassle at rear and dont cost much more than 200 quid with rubber on the old ebay. i dont get the pirelli p thing? i know they are standard and that but dont do car no favours (prepares to get flamed) some of the 14" pd100 steels look nice on mk1's,
guess it comes to down to what you like and how much ammo you have mate, sorry about the long thread i am bored,
paul
