what is/was the most powerful (standard) 8v engine that vw upto a max of 1.6 do???

its for a restricted type of racing im looking at doing.

1.6 K-Jet from an early GTI, I imagine...

think its about the same if memory serves me right.

what if you rebored out a 1600 gti engine to 1800..woulld the power output be more than a standard 1800 gti engine...piston stoke shorter on a 1600 making it more revvy

Power is proportional to displacement, not bore, in engine design theory. Of course, detail differences make…..ummm, differences in power output.

hmmmn so 1.6 gti is the only thing above 100bhp

aus out of a mk4 1.6 16v is 105 bhp ??
