I learnt to weld up my Mk1 myself and found it really easy after the initial first weld to the car

Settled In

When I learnt to weld, I did an evening class that gave you an insight into all types of welding, but tbh once you know the basics then its just a case of practice. Get someone to show you how to do it a few times then practice as much as poss on scraps of metal. Car bodys are quite hard to do though as the metal is so thin and tends to melt if your not careful.

Settling In

The last thing you want to do is start blowing holes in the chassis! Personally i prefer TIG welding, but MIG would be best in this case
