Welcome back online!

I was a bit surprised a couple of weeks ago to find our site had been 'suspended', and after a frantic tech support call it transpired that our site had been responsible for an 'excessive load' on the hosting server on which we resided.
Basically our site had become so busy that it was affecting many other users on the same server. Apparently we were 1 of about 100 sites and we were pinching about 40% of the resources!
So I've invested in a 'Pro' package which gives us a huge amount of space to play with (15 Gigabytes of transfer and 600 Megabytes of space) - we're using about 5% of that right now… phew! Now we are on a much bigger and beefier server.
Another advantage is that the site should also run a lot faster, it certainly seems snappier on my PC today.
Downsides, this will cost us ?150 a year, rather than the ?40 we were paying, but I think an investment well made! We do need to sort out an AGM prior to the show (28th of August - mark your diaries!) to figure out membership fees to help run all this!
I'm confident we can get this all going soon and I'm feeling doubly optimistic as my mk1 got through it's MOT on Saturday!
Welcome back to the Mk1 Owners Club!!
Cheers,
Drew.

Well done Drew, really missed the Forum.
Is it worth contacting the VW mags explaining what's happened? I'm sure they would like to know about the success.
Glad to hear the Mk1 got it's MOT (mine goes up there tonight ready for tomorrow)

Watch this space…. 8) Infact I've already been contacted by the Editor of 'Classic and Sportscar' who wanted to do a mini-feature on our 'web' approach to Club organisation, citing us a a successful venture…. just when our website went pop

I really found myself missing it for all the tech queries I usually search through the forum for!
I also had a reasonably successful weekend thanks to Rich (crazyquiff) for the spare "known good" warm up reg, and to Wellsy for the extended loan of his test fuel pressure gauge. My Campaign has been running and I actually managed to take it out for a few trips without getting stranded for the first time in about 2 months 8).
I have now invested in my own test gauge and will be forking out for a GSF warm up reg to replace Rich's loan one.
Thats whats so great about the forum / club - the lengths people are willing to go to help you out - long may it continue.
Cheers,
Chris

Next upgrade from this package is a full blown standalone server and a dedicated broadband pipe though…. 8O Let's hope we don't need to do that soon! With our current set up we can afford to triple our consumption…. not sure how long that will last!!!! 8O

Cheers,
Drew.
