hi,hope i'm in the right place for this question.i have an f reg golf clipper cab 36,000 miles yes 36,000 a full service history with 15 services,12 of which were main dealer and every mot to prove mileage.the car is helious blue and in fantastic condition with only very small dings, hairline scratches and small damage (?100)around passenger door handle from some idiot nicking the stereo.

i was thinking of maybe selling next year and how much i should expect to get for it ?

Really difficult to price anything, particularly cabbies, as its only worth what someone will pay, and cabbies are very seasonal!!  But i do love helios blue.

Would think ?1,500-?2,750. MK111 cabs with PAS, fuel injection, elecy windows, ABS, air bags etc etc now start at @?2K and ?3K gets you into a nice MX5, SAAB or Audi cabriolet not forgeting the hordes of cheap Escort, Rover 200 and Peugeot 306 cabbies out there. Many of these will be far younger and cheaper too.

Price is ultimately determined by supply and demand. The supply of convertibles is growing all the time. Every manufacturer has one now. Demand in winter dips, esp for ?specialist? relatively expensive cars like the MK1 Golf that will get used just for the summer or as a second car. This can mean ?500-?1000 price difference which to a newish ?20,000 VW Eos doesn?t look a lot but can be 50% of the value of an old Cabriolet.

1987 Alpine White 1.8 Clipper Cabriolet

The trouble with doing nothing is that you never know when you are finished.

This was discussed at AGM, with some offer of help. It's down to time to sort and impliment it all but hopefully should happen soon

How to organise it though? You need to see a car to value it properly, the same as professional organisations do with a written report. Pictures are not enough.
