If you got his number - report it. Police come down hard on "Road Rage" these days...

I doubt that will make a difference, besides, it would be his word against yours whether you did or not as there's no proof, you have the proof he hit you though!

report to police, but as no one is injured it becomes a civil matter. you must report within 24 hours of a accident as that law, if one of both parties fails to stop or give details of they insurance to any person requiring them.
Did you stop at the time !! if so tell the police you injured your thumb on the streeing wheel as the pick up bumped in to you, it's then classed as personal injury accident fail to stop.

yup i got over the roundabout and pulled over to check the damage.
i dont want to make an insurance claim or get any money out of it, just want the police to have a word or send a letter so he knows he cant get away with it.
will they do anything if i don't want to make an insurance claim or i haven't hurt myself?

You would be claiming on HIS insurance, not yours!
Yes - he is guilty of failing to stop after a road traffic accident and will quite probably be banned from driving for it.
should i report it to the police as i pulled over to check the damage and he just buggered off.

so i wouldn't have to pay any excess or loose my no claims - is that right?
i've never had to have any dealings with insurance yet (touch wood)

You do need to prove that it was his fault but that should be fairly easy considering A. He hit you and B. He then drove off and failed to stop!
Were there any witnesses?

nope, couple of cars coming off the roundabout the other way but nothing close enough to see what happened.

you'll still need to report to police as fail to stop accident within 24 hours do so. The driver of the pick up may report to police and if you don't it looks bad on your part.
Maybe the driver of the pick up has no licence or insurance. if that the case the pick up may not be registered to him, don't worry about that as the law go's the last registered keep must inform DVLA of new keeper details if not any ticket or any motoring offence then comes down on them.

Seen a similar thing on another forum but not good news. Old duffer in his volvo reversed in to this chaps car (he was parked at time but in it from memory.) then drives off.
The owner of the bumped car (lotus) sees not too much damage (i.e. drivable.) so carries on to work and reports the incident to the police. Because the owner of the Lotus didn't report the incident at the scene AND wait at the scene for the police, they wont persue it!!! 8O
Sounds really unfair to me but that may be what you will be faced with? :dontknow:

If your car gets hit whilst parked and the other driver drives off - it's YOUR fault!! - How unfair is that?

even if they won't do anything about it, I'd still report it just to cover myself

as above I still be inclined to report it, if nothing else you're just covering your self ….You never kno if he's got histroy of this sort of thing then it will make it easier for you to claim with no loss to your NCB.

you would have to pay your excess initially but if you prove it was his fault then his insurance company would pay out and you would get your excess back. These types of claims seem to go 50-50 so you could be taking a risk.
personally i would find out where he lives from his registration number and *************************************************
