Time to buy a MK2 ?

This old car is amazing!! GRAB ONE NOW WHILST THEY ARE ON THE UP,,,,,YOU WONT BE ABLE TO FIND ONE OF THESE IN 3YRS FOR UNDER ?3000 MARK MY WORDS!!

You may be right, although it would help this seller to clean the inside of the car before taking the pics - it's filthy!!! 8O

It looks a nice car for sure, but history of any classic car shows that generally the earlier models hold their value better than the later ones. For example split window Beetles are ten times the value of  later curved window ones. Same with E-types, etc. I do not think the Mk2 will achieve the status/value of the Mk1 even though most consider them a better car.

And there only about 10 times as many mk2 GTIs made as there were Mk1s…. and small bumper 16vs from 88 are about as common as they get!

True enough, but I bet UNMODIFIED ones are as rare as hens teeth though  :wink:

I still think a nice original late Mk2 3 door 16valver in Oak Green will be a really nice car to keep hold of, again if you can find one. That and a nice late Corrado VR6 Storm with all the trimmings….. mmmmmmm… nice!
