This Campaign's getting a bare metal respray over the next couple of weeks  :D  :D

All rust has been cut out and new metal let in - not much really.  Few surface rust bits to clean up and treat.

Old paint was rubbish - resprayed very badly with little or no prep

Even sprayed over the old side stripes and stuck new ones on over the top - even then they wern't straight.

This time it's gonna be done properly.

The wheels are just a spare set while the Pirelli's get refurbed and powder coated.  They will be for sale when I'm done with this one.

Hope you've got a good memory on how it all goes back together.

Probably you can refit everything with your eyes shut.

Will be a proper motor when done.  8)

Interestingly enough, I went to see a silver campaign today with view to buying. It looked fab until you got close up as it has been fully resprayed. But rusty rear valance (sprayed over), wheel well gone, paint runs, orange peel effect here and there. Shame that someone didn't take a little longer in the prep work. What is it? - spend 80% on prepping and 20% painting.

But still it looked ok. Not worth ?2,500 asking for it. More like ?1,600.

Good luck with it Rich

You must have got through a fair few 3M wheels sanding that down Rich

Should be a really nice car once done. Are we taking bets on whether you will be able to part with it though eh  :D

My money is on the silver one staying and one of the black ones getting sold personally   Of course I'm biased, but I'd say you should be concentrating on those Lhasa greens you have gathering dust in your back garden mate!

Just a thought but might be an idea to maybe snap lots of pics as you put it back together? That kind of info would make a great how to for people refurbing parts of their own cars. Thinking about things like door innards and waterproofing assembly, dash re-assembly, wiring loom routing, that kind of thing.

Cheers,

I totally agree Chris! (You walked in to that one Rich, well volunteered!! ) Seriously tho Rich, if you have the time it would be useful to a lot of people here.

You could also recoup some of your time by selling your resto story in pdf format on eBay of course!

OK OK  :D

Good job I've got a digi camera.  I've taken quite a few photos during progress but will do a few focused (for want of a better word) rebuild themes.  I rekon Door assembly, headlining and sunroof ones would be most useful.  Any more?

I love the 'batman-esque' photograph angle there (older viewers only!   ) or is that the tilt of your garage?

Front door, main window frame seal that runs along the top and down the rear edge. Took me hours on a new one and going to have to do it again soon!

Don't worry - gonna get etch primed v.v.soon

Dubbers - What, the seal that the glass sits in?  Dont see why that should be such a problem unless you have an oversized seal.

Yep, that's the one. If you are fitting new ones they are not pre-shaped, so getting them to fit around the corner is very difficult. Well at least it was for me  :D  Any tips?
