THE CARS THE STAR

I went through my old video's the other day and amongst my "car porn" video's ops: i found a 15 min series called the "cars the star" all about the mk1 GOLF GTI narated by Quintin Wilson and the opening piece features a 79 GTI in black with steel wheels (just like mine) Does anyone remember that episode? i maybe able to copy it if anyone is interested. Quintin loves the GTI and the whole program praises the GTI and makes you proud to be an owner, or am i just another anorak!!

Yes - I remember that one. He talks about blowing away a Merc from the lights in Germany in his girlfriends Gti if I remember right.

That part of the program is so cheesy

Yes, the 'reconstruction' of the traffic light scene was pretty cheesy !

I also have a copy of that programme on VHS, and I haven't forgotten that, in the last weeks of the old forum, I promised that I'd be able to get DVD copies of it, but I've found out that I don't have the right equipment for the job (analogue to digital video widget). ops:

However, if anyone else has the ability to copy from VHS to DVD, I'll send them the tape, in return for a DVD copy of the programme for myself - any takers  :?:

I'll have a dvd copy if you are willing to sell one on to me. I had a vhs copy and can remember wilson saying "the full beam indicator lights up in orange which is unique" but can't find it, I guess the wife throw it out. I did play it over and over and over…

I remember that show. At the time I'd just bouht my gti and (I'm sorry to say) really didn't know what I had. I'm not a car buff, I was only watching because my previous car was a Triumph Herald, and that had been the featured car the previous week.

I remember driving home in the gti after I'd bought it - that was a blast! Bit of a contrast performance wise to a Herald!

I can get the VHS professionally converted to DVD for free in next to no time, PM me and send the VHS by special delivery only and I will send you back the DVD copy.

For the record, I sent my copy of the tape to Rich (Crazyquiff) for him to copy to DVD, but when watching it just before putting it into the envelope, I found that the tape was sticking a bit, causing VHS tracking problems   - hopefully winding it back and forward a few times will sort it out…   :?:
