i have found an engine im my mates shed and he let me have it for a few bits to my amazment i take the sump of to find a knife edged lightened crank and h section rods not to mention a ported polished and gas flowed head with a piper cam kit in it with a polished and flowed inlet manifold and audi throttle bodie as you can imagine its made my day and all for free
1 last thing i want to take out my bulkhead i imagine thats wot they call it the bit that goes between the engine and where the wiper motor lives if it would weaken it

Dont think that adds any strength whatsoever to be honest. There is a brace from the wndscreen scuttle that mounts onto it, though I don't know many MK1's that actually have that in place - mine certainly doesn't.
