Stolen Mk1 GTI recovered!
A few things missing (tools), and one of the steel rims is dented (serviceable but uglier), but no other damage.
Someone who saw a notice about it (we distributed them widely) told us where it was.
Thanks for your vigilance - she lives to drive another day!

Methinks we should have a whip-round if the gendarmerie nail the b*stard wot nicked it. Then, when he gets out on bail we should convey him to the Gaydon meet via one of those nice trimarans and roast the turd on a spit in lieu of a barbeque.
…and I'm not a violent person!
Cheers

True story…..
Years ago a friend of mine woke to find his car had been "stolen" . He notified the Police , they found his car a few days later at a Public house car park with the keys in the ignition! Drinking is bad for your health and makes you forget

Cheers………

I'm really pleased he's got it back.
See good things do happen!

I used to own a mk1 - well I've had 2 actually - YDU 720X & SMU 420Y. Currently I drive an 98 Scotia White Mitsubishi Evolution V RS…. fancy getting another mk1 someday

… make sure you lock it up tight!!
He is considering imobiliser/tracker, etc, but for last night and today, he removed two of the wheels and left it on axle stands in the driveway!
Thanks for your suspiciousness Kins, hopefully you will get a look at the old girl at Gaydon!

There will be some visible deterrents, such as removeable steering wheel, etc, but there will also some hidden items, to immobilise the car, and to track it, if it is taken again…

mini ITX Computer in the glove box controlling loads of the electrics eg. Fuel pump relay
Could just take the fuel pump relay (or dizzy rotor arm) with you whenever you leave the car, a lot cheaper
