Should it stay, or should it go??

Hi - im thinking of selling my gti. Its 1600 engine, and been resprayed. Due to to have more children that i can now fit in there its got to go :(  At present it hasnt got an mot, but it will have when i come to sell it. Its been garaged for the past two years and anything that has needed to be done on it has, with no expense spared.
I'm going to ebay it and i just wanted to see what you guys think i should put the reserve on it at, if you could help out.
Over the past three years(after having the engine stripped and rebuilt( not a problem with the engine, I just wanted piece of mind)) it has coverd an average of 750miles.

I am seriously thinking of just storing it in my garage until I'm able to use it again as it means that much to me, what do you think? Any advise would be apriciated. Please dont reply with an offer to buy.
Thanks

Greena

..as all the above…you WILL regret selling it !!!!
Keep it, it won't be long before the kids are grown up…..and you will always have something to escape to

why sell something as tidy as that, thats costing you nothing to keep it? just get it mot`d and have occasional usage in the year for shows etc, lifes about enjoying the things we like….dont deprive ya self of that

keep it 100% you would so regret selling that for sure

I'm in exactly the same position. 2 cars and not enough time to go to the shows.

Mine isn't costing me anything at the moment, I did all the major stuff before the divorce (has anyone noticed the marriage fatality rate of Mk1 Golf ownership?). Now it 'just' costs me tax, insurance and … hang on, when was the last MOT….. I think I'd better check that cause it may have run out!!!

Doh!

Make your own mind up but don't look for excuses to sell or keep it's just a waste of everyones time.

One thing I know is that using your kids as an excuse is exactly that, an excuse.

yeah my sportline is my second car too, only really use it in nicer weather and spend what ? i want too on it…fortunately its not a "problem" car and hasnt cost me anything other than what i wanted to spend since i bought it last year…except a new back box and normal insurance and tax

I think i would sell my VR6 before i sold the cabriolet as it would so much harder to replace it like for like and it could be used everyday if it cam to it

Thanks for your imput guys. I wasnt really using the kids as an excuse to to sell the mk1, it just adds to the list of things against keeping her.
I love driving her, and i stil think she is an icon, but i dont really think I can warrent just having her parked up, i would rather sell her and let someone else have the pleasure of using her and hopefully she'll stay as orginal as posiible with the next owner.
I think i'll get christmas over and get it re mot'd, then watch this space!

PS. I always said the wife would go before the car :D
