Seat belt

Im jus being curious, as to how when u grab a seatbelt hard it doesn't give.

Why is this and how does it worK??

I have random thoughts sometimes which bug me til i find out!

I believe theres a ball bearing in there, that works on a gravity principle. When you pull the belt slowly the spring slips and lets you unfurl the seat belt. When the balance of the ball bearin is changed, i.e. you slam your brakes on, the ball bearing falls forward, locks the spring in place, your belt is the held in place and thus you are held in the right place.

This is my understanding of it anyway, I found this out when I took the belt assembly out and tried pulling the belt out whilst the entire assembly is upside out (or in any other plane to normal) It doesnt work!

for a good example of how a spud gun works, simply force a spud into the end of your mate's car exhaust. When they start the car up and it doesn't run properly, 9 times out of 10 they'll probably give the throttle some welly, this should be enough to force the spud out followed
by a bang and if you are there to see it, alot of laughing.
