Searching for a previous car....Alpine White Pirelli Edition
Hello there, great to see this Mk1 register doing so well, i figure this is the best place to come for some advice……
I used to own around the turn of the millenium a LHD 1983 Alpine White Pirelli Edition GTi - at the time with a magic 27,000 miles on it from new(!)
I loved it, but didn't use it so sold it onto someone, this guy has pics of it on his website, I know they are of my car as I took the pics! Check it out here Pirelli Edition
I have spoken to him and says he sold it to someone in the Portsmouth area, but from there the trail goes dead - so here's the question, has anyone seen it in the last 3 years? I'd love to see it again, and perhaps I would consider buying again if the price was right now I have a garage!
Thanx in advance
Courtster

I'm sure you can find out from the DVLA, there's a bit on they're web site that allows you to check if the car's been taxed so you'll know if it's still on the road or been put in storage
looks like a lovely car though, hope you manage to trace it and possibly buy it back

Welcome Courtster. Like the story - bet it would be nice to get the car back!
It's not one I'm familiar with but hopefully someone here will be.
Have you double checked the registers for the registration number of the car on the off chance someone has logged it here?
Cheers
Andy

I just wish I had the reg number - I must have another photo somewhere with the number plate on. I'll have a look now. I remember it was a 2 digit A reg car, eg A56 ETC
Just reminincing again, I used to love the way I'd have to wind the window down slightly to close the doors or boot because the seals were like new(!) the original unused Pirelli P6 in the boot, and the original 'tommy 2 knob' FM radio……
Memories

Its a shame I got out of the GTi scene after I sold it, would have probably have kept better tabs on it!
I was in a few show 'n shines in '99 in it if you have any pics kicking around the house - problem is it was before digi cameras were widespead so not many pics online
GTi National '99 (remember when it was at the TRL?)
Bristol Volksfest
Volksfest Wales
Also did a rolling road shoot-out at Stealth that was featured in Rabbit in '99 - made a none too shabby 113.5hp (how can I remember that but not the reg number?!)
I bought the car from a guy in Saltash nr Plymouth who imports LHD 911's. He bought and imported it himself to use as a daily driver but found that he didn't use it much.

I hope i'm not boring you, but I have some other info…
At all the events I attended the car was displayed next to Stephen Larkin's silver campaign, we chatted quite a bit. I know he took a few photos of my car at the time - is he still on the VW scene?

Since hankering after a Mk1 again I thought that trying to find this one would be easier than finding a decent Campaign - I went to see so many classed as 'mint' in those days and turning up only to find they were a bag of nails before finding that one.
Still, 5 years on and I think the good ones have stayed good and the bad ones are worse so maybe it'll be easier this time round…. :?
