Registering or SORNing... it's going to cost!

The DVLA are trying to slap a ?4.50 annual charge on the registration or SORNing of vehicles.

See:

http://www.fbhvc.co.uk

Small now, but give it five years and I'll bet you it doubles or trebles. Yet again another attempt to drive more stealth taxation into our system.

Whilst the FBHVC may be a historic car club, we're also affected just by owning or having cars off the road for whatever reasons

They are taking a petition to Downing St  - if you object to this kind of sneaky revenue raising like I do, the petition to download is here:

Petition

It needs to be submitted back to the FBHVC by 30 November.

Please circulate a link to this post to anyone whom you feel is interested.

Cheers,

Drew.

Geees, ?4.50 for processing one small document. I could understand a tiny admin cost but that soon adds up for a few cars. So now I have to pay for not using those roads too…

Yea I read this in a couple of the classics mags this last few weeks.

As you say it is the embryo of another motor tax.

I read a report that the Goverment would like to see a reduction of 25% of vehicles on the road over the next decade. Not sure how they will do that, but taxing people for the sake of owning a car in addition to the road fund licence is a start.

The other thing was the removal of cars that were on private land (including driveways), hence the SORN.

Imagine coming home to find your restoration project had been towed away and scrapped. Doesn't bear thinking about. They could take the wife but not the cars  :D

First I've heard of it and I think it is a load of bollox.

The government in this country is a farce - I get so worked up about this kind of stuff
