Red whats the best one to use ?

Ready to top coat my MK1 8O

Have a choice of :   Mars Red No 1 (pre-80 cars, more red) L31B
Mars Red No 2 (post-80 cars, orangey) LA3A

It's got to be red but which one do i use ? The car is 1983 originally [but will never be back like new due to a few mods] with LA3A paint but is the L3IB a better red ? What do you think looks the best :dontknow:  guys?

Cheers…………

add a poll and see which gets more votes.

I'd go for the darker, that way if you want to change it to the orangy mars red.. just leave it in the sun!

all down to personal choice and weather you want the colour to hide to mods you've done or not (lighter IMO would show them up more.. darker would make them more subtle)  :dontknow:

Now thats interesting,I thought our Y reg was just faded red.I didnt realise the shade was different to the earlier ones……………learning curve again. :D

Must say I prefer the darker shade ,also maybe others would just think the lighter one was faded red. :dontknow:

Number 1 mate - that's what I used…looks great and still goes orangey from certain angles in the sun

I like 'em both equally! I'm spraying mine Mars red soon aswell, gonna opt for the 1st one, L31B. Looks great on Al's Golf…I doubt you'd be disappointed with either though  8)

What do you think looks the best  guys?

More importantly, which do you think looks best?

I prefer the look of L31B, but if it were my car I would stick to the original LA3A as paint is pretty permanent.
