Pesky Kids...
Wanted somewhere to vent my anger and thought I might get a sympathetic ear on here! Parked my car in a car park overnight on friday (all so I could take the missus out) got back to the car - oh it's a recently finished 1981 GTi restore - expecting to find a parking ticket, to my relief there wasnt one but there was a wacking great dent in the passenger door, looks like someone had kicked the door with their full force! I took her to the body shop and they did say a new door and spary was needed - luckily for me in my anger I slammed the door and the dent popped out - well almost there is still a crease in it which is noticable to me. The crease is on the angle so not sure if it can be pressed out? even if it can I imagine it would mean taking off the new door cards and the way i put them on i cant imagine they would come off without damaging them!
so if anyone knows a good panel beater / sprayer in herts (I'm in broxbourne) please let me know - oh dont take your mk1 to hitchin it seems they dont care much for them there!

1, Park in a conspicuous area, preferably under a street light (or an area known to be protected by cctv)
2, When removing the stereo face, take it with you and leave the glove box empty and open.
3, If parking between two cars, look for a spot where passenger sides are facing your car, so that there is less chance of a door being opened into your car. Also keep an eye open for child seats, as they have no understanding of car park dents.
4, Parking with full lock on, in gear, will prevent your vehicle being towed away.
5, Lovely shiney cars that are obviously loved are the best trophy for the vandals.. If it must be left, if you can, leave it dirty. Remember, it is still nice and shiney underneath.. (Hard to come to terms with that one, I still won't drive a dirty car even though I have had them vandalised because I loved them.. After all it is the last item of clothing you put on before you go out..)
I am gutted every time I hear of an act of mindless vandelism like this.. I hate it more than you can possibly imagine and right now I am bubbling and feel sick to the pit of my stomache.. Really sorry for you.. :x

Cars are like magnets though, park in the middle of an empty car park come back a few minutes later and bam, another car next to yours

I have a kiddy seat in my cars but am very careful and my little girl is too, but not every one is the same, I hate to stereo type but the women in an MPV with 2 or 3 kiddies is often on another planet and not thinking about where your car is or how dirty/clean or nice it may be
