Only one with light modded series 1? (Pic included)

Am I the only one on here with a light modded series 1? If so I feel so alone

What exhaust have you got on that RT? And is it really noisy? I need an exhaust for mine and thats a bit different, but subtle.

Plenty of rust

Thats a mk2 16v box thats all, its nothing special. You best getting a stainless steel one, I have one on my lhasa green mk1 and its all good.

Car should be making its way to the garage to get the dodgy wheel locking nuts taken off, then its to my old man garage to be stripped. I hope to keep a photo diary of the progress.
I'd be interested in hearing what you think I should do?
So far my thought were to strip it back, and make it into a old skool race spec mk1 like they used to race in the 80's but keeping the arch kit.

IMO, return it to standard and get rid of the kit. It spoils the lines of the classic shape and is horrible. In any case you should take off the bodykit to assess any rust before spending any serious time and money on it.

How is that light modded? Look at that roof! It's almost a cab!

I thought mine was modded cos I've taken the side stripes off!

I think that kit completely ruins the classic shape myself.

Keep the kit!

Be boring if we all had the same car! We don't all need concours.

It's always gonna be a bit special because of the roof.

keep the body kit, i like it.
i just missed out on a BBS kit on e-bay only went for ?30 odd quid - Bargin -
If you remember at GTI international 03 they had a silver BBS kitted MK1 and it was very nice.
Nice to be different as well. esp that roof  8)

This kit isn't BBS, its a zender kit.

Zender kits rock  :D  but it does make it look a lot different to std.

i know as it is square'r than a bbs kit round the arches i had a zender kit on my mk2 and thought it made a major difference to the look of the car (for the better)

I have a standard'ish looking mk1 as it is so thought this mk1 could be a bit of fun. Not going to damage it in anyway and after all the kit can be taken off again so not all bad. My thoughts are that at least it will stand out in the crowd.

That roof is a real eye catcher.
As to the body kit…..if YOU like it then keep it. After all, when I was in Germany in the '80s so many of the Mk1's were fitted with body kits you'd have thought they WERE standard !!

I fell in love with the wide Rieger kit, Testarossa style, but the wife at the time put her foot down like a sledgehammer………..should have got divorced sooner (maybe that was the start of it      )

Owning a Mk1 cabby is a vertical learning curve…

Well its started, went and took the rear seats out and mats etc ready for it to go to the mechanics so the engine can get started and all that. So hopefully it will be back in my hand this feb with all the bodykit off and interior taken out. The body isn't all bad, say the worse part was the engine bay but just going to get new wings so will replace all those bad areas.
Need to get a new rubber for the sunroof its letting in some water now, but nothing too bad.
I'll be keeping a photo diary so will keep you all updated.

Well like I stated above going to strip the interior apart from the dash and a few other bits and bobs, its not going to be a pure racer as I'm not after that just want a old skool racer theme but with a zender bodykit on it for a twist.
End of the day I'll be reparing the mk1 to a better state than it is currently and not going to do anything to it that can't be turned back easily that way if I have a change of heart and want to go standard I can.
Got some other ideas that I'm going to do but no doubt they will change as I go along.
Need some old skool bucket seats at some point
