One of those days!

Been working on the Golf this pm - wasn't until after everywhere is closed realise the sump gasket has gone :cry:  Peeing oil everywhere (just hope it's not the main seal!) Bloody bad timing as need the car first thing Monday. Anyone lknow if Halfords stock these??

To top the day off, noticed some little git has kicked their football at the nearside wing and put a big dent in it! :evil:

Doubt they would stock it but give them a try i guess, dont even think they would do gasket paper big enough, as a temporary fix use some gasket sealant, should get you through the week

Did think about some kind of 'instant' gasket but I'm not sure I'd be comfortable using it - I'd be too worried to accelerate just in case it failed!

Well, I was shocked - Halfords did have a sump gasket although the cheap paper type - fitted it with some instant gasket too so as to be sure!

Couldn't finish the job though - the three sump bolts that sit next to the gearbox housing just wouldn't go in - it's like you have to put them in at an angle and I just couldn't do it!

After being on my back on a gravel drive for about 4 hours!! (my back/shoulders still ache!) and at about 6pm when I couldn't feel my feet anymore coz it was so cold I had to admit defeat so my local garage had to tow the car in, just to put three sump bolts in! ops:
