My new Cabby
Well here she is folks. The latest in a long line of VW's to grace my drive. I picked her up last weekend and so far she appears to be a cracking little car. There's a few things needed cosmetically such as refurbished alloys, replace the tiny sports steering wheel with an original, replace the alloy window winders with originals, valet the interior and fit new floor mats. Mechanically she seems perfect and the body is in fantastic condition having spent its first 10 years in spain. All I need now is the sun 8)

Your new cab!
I agree, a wheel refurb will really set it off nicely! Looks like the cables in the roof need looking at too, they should be quite simple to sort out and again will make all the difference! Looks nice!

Cheers guys. I'm either going to refurbish these wheels or buy a new set of summer wheels and keep these for winter. The roof cables are on the 'to do'list as is getting the MFA to work. It's clock only at the moment.

MFA
Is it the switch / indicator stalk that is the problem?

I think so. I haven't had a chance to look into it yet but the guy I bought the car from gave me a spare wiper/indicator stalk set which he had planned to fit but never got round to it.

I have a spare set of wiper / mfa and indicator stalks just in case!

Changing the stalks is a relative easy and quick job on a tin top or early (pre 88?) Cabby. It?s probably not been done as the previous owner couldn?t get the MK11 steering wheel collar of the steering column? :dontknow:

Stalks are just the same to change on any Mk1, its the ignition switch thats more difficult.
Nice car, I like the smoked rear lights.

Well the weather is supposed to be decent this weekend so I may well be faffing around with stalks and hood cables. As you say, all good fun. I'll track down the pesky gremlin if it's the last thing I do

I'm thinking of getting them done with a polished gun metal finish. Should suit the car well.Jenks said
