Crazy, that part no 055199293G is for the actual bracket itself. The mounting is 171199214F
The gearbox one is 171199214H

I'm looking to do my mounts too, I think the drivers one has gone and I've already changed the front and rear. My engine is standard so doesn't need polymounts but what is the best combination to have for longlivity?
Standard mounts at the sides and front and just upgrade the rear to diesel?
Cheers,
Ross

Sorted the mounts out …well nearly…
ECP as usual give me the wrong engine block side mount - looked too big so i phoned the bro and he went out to his mk1 and took a measurement - dunno what mount they gave me so i wnet back in the shop and he refunded me - didn't have the right one in stock - got the gear box side mount though….
what a pain to fit… easy to get the old one out - just cut through the mount (not the holder) carefully peeled up each edge nad popped it out with the hammer and chisel - new mount to go in was a hallion…
You'll defo need a bearing press - also turn the edge of the mount in a bench stone grinder to give a tapered edge to seat it in the first place - then press home - it will take a few attempts. You'll need two 50mm sockets too - as the mount protrudes out each side when fully in place.
Got the diesel mount from VAG - looks good and solid have it screwed together and all the mounts buffed to bare steel and painted - pics soon
Still have to get the engine block mount took off an old block and a new mount put in..

i remember that side mount was a pain in the but to fit, did the same thing and grinded the edge at an angle all the way around to help it initially fit in to the round bracket! ten hammered away with it in the vice!
then had the other mission of modifying the silly bugpack insert as it totally would not fit!
went back to the standard mount for the gearbox too as the stiffer ones make the dash tremble like an earthquake, forgot and ordered a gti one instead of the diesel one so just left it!
