Mk1 GTS (Euro Edition ??)

Does anyone know anything about this model. It seems to be a special edition and might be Euro only although I believe it has square lights which might mean it's a USA car  :dontknow:  It has a 1.6 carb engine and that's about all I can find. Here's a pic

Are you sure it's a golf not an XR2. I do like it haven't been able to find anything on Google or any where about them. I do like it though. is it yours? where did you find it? does it say anything on the paperwork about being an import?

It's for sale at a garage here in Holland but doesn't say anything about being an import although that means nothing as Holland is a popular place for imported US cars. They are asking almost 2000 euros for it. I'm not interested in buying it, just keen to find out more about it.

Looks cool, and very similar to the French '16S' if thats how it came.

Maybe a Dutch Equivalent of the 16S?

its left hand drive?! them stickers look like they came from the factory looks sound mate, is it 1600 carb engine?

It's being sold as factory original and I also found another pic for a brochure but I can't get the photo to link

Yeah, 1.6 carb

Not one I have heard of and it does not appear in any of the factory option codes (unlike the 16S, Campaign, etc). I also can't see VW releasing that grille. Its probably just a dealer special and not an official model.

its a 1600 south african gts mate (or same spec as (says in google title sa&gts)) just dont understand why its left hand drive ?!?! how much is it?   they have got the most ultra close ratio gearbox ever!!!! had one on a 1800 was fun to drive.  what year was it manufactured?
