mark 1 interiors

hi everyone just beocome a member. i currently own a mark 1 gti 8v im looking to modernise the interior has anyone got any pics of any that have been done would much appriciate it

is anyone else going to answer or shall I? If by modernise you mean change to alternative interior DON'T DO IT! If you want to replace certain parts that are worn out then look around on the for sale board here, ebay {careful} orgo to any of the vw golf meets that have stalls where you can often pick up a bargain. Let us have an idea of what you're thinking of and someone here might be able to help you out.

hi russt thanks for the reply mate appreciate it. i was thinking of having an alternate interior perhaps the classic style recaro???? im in 2 minds whether to have the back seat removed and have it carpeted.......

Unless the whole car is going 'retro' then keep it standard or I dont think it would look right?

At end of day tho your choice and as long as you keep original interior you can put back if you sell the car. (Or keep it as your pension plan and sell them on eBay in 30 yrs time?!!)

i personally would like 2 bucket seats in the front i do think it would look cool. will keep the original interior. anyone have any idea what sort of price id get for the 2 front seats and the rear they are mint....??? the only wear is on the drivers seat (getting in and out has caused it to wear. its the red and black style..???

Unless you got no storage space or really need the cash, I'd keep the standard seats. You may not think now, but I'm sure you'd come to regret it in the future and it really would help with re-sale if you part with the car in the future.

Price tho would be difficult to say - I've seen complete sets go for anything from about ?50 - ?250 on ebay.

His red MK1 is very nice and you'll get to see what yours could look like with a non-standard interior (I'm sure Al wont mind me using his as an example! :wink: )
