Glad that green fiesta went off but gutted it passed him again on the first corner after the straight!!!
And the Pug in the Qualifying should have pulled off. All that smoke was dangerous for drivers behind him!

I'm glad my vids entertained the children !
There was contact with that Fiesta, but the only visible damage is the smallest of dents in the front wing that will easily pop out, oh and a bit of luminous paintwork . I went up his inside to take him through Graham Hill bend, but he shut me out and, in doing so, we made contact. It was the lightest of shoves, but enough to send him into a spin! There will be a full report on my website when I get round to finishing it.
I fully expect the next outing at Brands to be much better. I know that car is capable of a place in the final!
Cheers for all the support everybody!! Next race at Donnington Park on the 14th and 15th May!

It's very interesting to see it from a different perspective. Brands is a fabulous circuit from a spectator point of view!
I certainly intend to do the Golf proud before the season is out. I reckon there's still more left in her, it's just the nut behind the wheel !
Many thanks!

The best time I got at Brands in my stock 1800 was 1:08.45 on a trackday with no other traffic getting in the way.
Respect! :notworthy:

I assure you, there will be plenty more vids at every race, and better than the one you've just seen! We had camera problems during the race and the footage for the entire second half (the most eventful half) was effectively useless. I went on the kerb on the exit of Graham Hill bend which shook the car voilently. This caused the cable tie we had around the camera to press one of the buttons! Never mind, we'll get it right next time!
I notice you are located in Kent. For your info, we're at Brands again on 19th June, Lydden on 30th & 31st July (double header) and Brands once again on 10th Sept. It would be good to meet you!
Thanks everyone for your comments :y:
Best regards

I made up a small bracket which attaches to the roll cage then fixed the head off my tripod to the bracket. This allows me to fix the camera at any angle too - Just got to get it on a trck or something now to use it!

Are you mounting the camera with a cable tie???

I've got a proper FIA approved camera mount which cost ?100! It's got dampers and all sorts in it to reduce viabration. Anyway, the scrutineers insist that it has additional support incase it comes loose. The mount came with a proper strap, which we forgot, so we used a cable tie.

Oh - Right! ops:
By the way - Did you get the mail I sent you yesterday Keith?
I was interested in learning more about your swirl pot arrangement as my car suffers really badly from fuel starvation on right hand bends.

I did get your email. Apologies I've not replied!
We were getting a fuel surge problem under acceleration, so we rotated the tank 180 degrees and got the same problem under braking! The answer was a swirl pot, which holds roughly a litre of fuel all the time. We've got it bolted next to the fuel tank. To go with this, we bought a red top fuel pump. So now we have two fuel pumps, one to pump fuel from the tank into the pot, and the other to pump fuel from the pot to the engine. It's a complicated arrangement (to me anyway), but it's just a case of connecting everything up correctly. The only thing you have to be weary of is that you will get no warning when you're out of fuel, except when the engine splutters and dies!
This is our arrangement.
Hope this helps! I'm not that technically minded unfortunately, I just drive the thing !

OK - SO the big one is obviously the tank!
At the "7 o'clock" position - this is the Facet pump.
At the "9 o'clock" position this must be the Swirlpot (silver) with the normal Pump (black) attached. The swirlpot is actually quite small then isn't it?! Is it specially shaped inside or is it just a normal container?
"10 o'clock" must be the accumulator right?
I dont know if there would be room to fit a swirl pot and a Facet pump under the car, unless it went behind the fuel tank… Hmmm… I feel another mini project coming on!
