It goes!

I spent most of Sunday trying to work out why she still wouldn't go, flattened 2 batteries, towed her, got my toys outta my push chair, sat back with a cuppa tea, and pulled the CIS all apart, i only ran it low/out of fuel, but had never known a car not start with all this effort, it all sorted itself out though when the fuel distributor didn't seem to be flowing with much fuel, a quick change and she fired first time, on the test drive i was awoken to the fact of how poor Mk1 brakes are even when up together, but i'll do that after the test i think, welding up a few small patches on Wed then test time, wish me luck.

Sounds familiar. Spent days going over everyting on mine trying to get it to start, gave up in the end and took it to a garage. They fixed by simply removing and refitting fuel districuter :? - must have been something jamming inside?

After prolonged time of non use the piston can stick due to fuel gumming inside the distributor.  Ususlly a tap with a hammer or lifting the air flow flap clears this problem but it can be a pain!

I was coming to the conclusion that it was never going to leave the garage.
