Yeah, went once in about 87. Was good but a long old trek from the North East. Nearly every car seemed to be a Mk1 or Mk2 Golf with the odd Scirocco and Jetta thrown in for good measure. I suppose those were the days when it truly was a GTI show.

Was good at the TRL went most years both days, it did help that is was only a few miles from where I live :)

there's a guy who has scanned a load of old pic from around that time who has added them to the mk1oc facebook page.

I have also linked them on clubgti  http://www.clubgti.com/FORUM/showthread.php?t=214798

Loved the T R L site, proudley drove down there year after year from the midlands in the mid 90's. Firstly in helious blue campaign followed by a couple of mk2 gti's and mk3 vr6. Allways seemed to meet up with a good unplanned convoy back in the day when most of us never had mobiles or internet  8)  8)

I always remembered that cabriolet with the interior in Jamaican flag colours. Also, does anyone else remember the French Mk1 with the gullwing doors?
Other things that come back to me are a beautifully made Rudeboy GTI badge and a rear window sticker that said "You'll never take me alive copper!"
I went to Crowthorne a few times from 93 and a couple more things - a Golf with all the engine/drivetrain of an Audi Quattro and another with a Porsche 928 conversion after being sawn in half and widened. Did I dream that one??

Good to see the old images of TRL GTI International. Going there in my Scirocco CL encouraged the immediate purchase of a Mk1 GTI that evening….
Good days, some nice cars, early euro look, last time I remember seeing 80's bodykits en masse. I wonder if we'll look back on the current modifying trends with such nostalgia in a few years.  Personally,I can't wait to see chrome bumper cars with big tail lights to die out.

Looking for a series1 passenger side under dash shelf and fittings.

Wow, love seeing all the old pics!  Never seen so many Mim Alpine rims in one thread.  I had some on my mk2 Cavalier in 95 purely so I had them ready for when I got a VW!
