insurance book price.

hi all,

So……lost my rivage to an electrical fire on sunday evening. The whole of the interior, dash, windows, roof etc all gone.  :(  Fire Brigade had to come and extinguish the fire.
Now obviously the insurance company will write the car off.
The car was in very good condition and the interior totally unmarked.
Ran really sweet and had done 120,000 miles.
I had paid ?3150 two years ago for the car and spent plenty on it since. I have all receipts etc.

The million dollar question is, roughly how much will the insurance company offer and how much should i stand my ground for?!!!

I know the first offer from them will probably be an insult but may it help to gather evidence of similar cars for sale and their value?

Anybody who's been in a similar situation or got any advice to offer would be greatly appreciated.

Barry.

Did you have an agreed value or market value policy?

If it's market value, the best you can do is get a letter from the owners club stating how much they estimate the car is worth and detailing similar cars that have sold recently along with condition and price.

Then brace yourself for a massive shock!

Best of luck.

insurance

gutted for you mate.

just hold your ground and stick out for what you think its worth.

as long as you've declared any mods, then you should get the price for them included.

here for a good time, not a long time

I fear unless you had 'agreed value' insurance you will be offered book value so prob less than ?1000 :dontknow:

1983 Mars Red 1.8 Golf GTI
1987 Alpine White 1.8 Clipper Cabriolet

The trouble with doing nothing is that you never know when you are finished.
