Grime...WTH

Now I consider myself to still be down with the kids at the ripe old age of 38 but just been into my 15 year old stepsons bedroom to find something to listen to and picked up a CD with Grime written on the front of it, what a load of s**t, is this really what the kids are listening to these days????

Anyway this got me thinking, I think it's time the 30+ brigade teach the younger members on here a thing or two about classic dance music so I propose a list of tracks for the younger generation to go search for on youtube or any other website of choice to broaden their musical knowledge.

I'll start with probably the biggest dance classic of all…..

Inner City with the track Good Life….go check it out and list your contributions below.

Loved the indie sceen until around the time The Smiths split in '89 then moved into dance (well rave really) and boy did it go off!! Amongst several fantastic nights/mornings, an evening in '92 Bournemouth 'Fantazia' was particularly memorable…made the newspapers next day…

This isn't pretty…

:D

Good topic for debate! I know what you mean, I don't have any kids of my own but there's some next door who plays this eeeeerrrr stuff!! what makes it worse is that fact that it's played far too loud for their obvious 'budget system'  so it distorts and sounds very tinny too  :banghead:

There's many good examples of various music types on here (suprised nobodys said James  8O ) but in keeping with the requested 'dance' theme I think you can't go wrong with some of the Minstry Of sound 'back to the old skool' comps for a quick blast of 90's dance… there's an education in there somwhere  :D

Get em to type in old skool dance in youtube it's suprising just how many quality tracks i'd forgotten about on there - they'll find something i'm sure(ish)  :dontknow:

Here's a couple of what I think are all time classics

Shades of rhythem - sweet sensation
Robyn S - show me love
c n c music factory - everybody dance now
Massive attack - unfinished symphany
etc etc

aaaahhhhh memories

MK1 GTi Cab '91' H Black
Mars Red Campaign - work in progress
MK1 GTi Sportline '92' J Red
