You need to be a member to list a car for sale, its quick and easy to join up and you can pay by Paypal. In addition to being able to list a car for sale, there's a number of other benefits. See the link below to join up:

http://www.vwgolfmk1.o…dules.php?name=Membership

(If you pay by eCheque, it would need to clear, and therefore takes 7-10 days before the membership becomes 'active').

Paul

Can i ask if this new change in the clubs policy of only letting fully paid members to advertise in the cars for sale section has actually increased the membership alot. As in my opinion i think it has stopped alot of mk1`s actually being listed on the mk1 golf site for sale.

But i guess there is no way of seeing weather people became members just to sell the car, or weather they became members due to the price drop etc.

Its not possible to say if this alone, has increased membership a lot; but the broad package of benefits on offer has certainly increased membership rate significantly. Yes, the total number of listed cars is down but the quality is also up - you could also say we've dissuaded speculative sellers? I suspect some people have become members just to sell cars, given their numbers of posts; and the time they signed up membership compared to the time the listing went into "Cars for Sale".

Just to back that up Paul, I asked about tons of cars on the 'cars for sale'
ones that i was really interested in, people then saying 'yeahh just waiting for this n that then im selling it' Same people never get round to selling it!

I do totally understand the reasoning behind doing it, the only thing is not everyone is after buying the quality cars ( as you put it ). The way it is now the people with the cheaper mk1`s or project cars either end up scrapping them or breaking them for bits which goes against what the club is about

i must admit kenno has a point maybe if it was looked at again in the future people with a post score over 100 are alound to post cars for sale

but then i like the fact it members only makes me fell special and my nan always said i was special

The club is quite happy to review decisions from time to time, the motivation can come from the membership. There is the "Club Business" area to discuss such issues, which is accessible by members.

doh!!!!

best become a fully paid member then, to start the discussion.  Ben your idea is a good one, but i don`t see what the problem is if people only register to sell there project cars that never got started etc. And if 100 posts were introduced then they just would not bother just like they are not doing now. Its not as if they would be making alot of trade or money out the site, as most will only have 1 mk 1 golf to sell. Could maybe understand that situation in the parts for sale, where people only sell in there and make no contribution anywhere else on the site, as parts are easily bought and sold

they do still end up on the site, but only if some1 happens to come accross them on others

freaky bug looks like you won`t have to become a fully paid member to put it for sale on here now

Yep, at the moment a member can list a car on behalf of someone else, if they want to.

Here's another way round it, put it on ebay but    you have to pay for that.

but if your cleaver you can always put on ebay advert "if mk1 owners club member pm me" then do the deal withdraw car from ebay and jobs a good one but instead of all this messin about just put your hand in ya pocket and support the club  :y:

Dont ask what your club can do for you, but what can you do for your club?
