Just brought Feb 05 classics magazine and Drews Golf is featured in a six page article called Red Hot.

I Also brought the Dec 04 VW motoring magazine which also featured a mint mk1 golf gti in red, I thought the car was also Drews car but noticed it was an early 1979 golf gti LKE 266V.

Its official the Red mk1 is now all the rage methinks

I got a copy from the local Texaco garage, priced at #3.80. The magazine shows nice close up pictures of your car. All mk1 fans would love reading the article, worth buying a copy.

This morning I have tried WH Smith and 2 local mag shops (that must have 500-600 between them and the local garage……NO VWM….all the others, yes, but NO VWM…give us a clue please.

That shot with the tesco bags was, as you might suspect, a bit staged. The photographer said he wanted a picture of the car as it would have been used in the 80s so he corralled my wife and me raiding the kitchen for some shopping bags, filling them with tins and into lifting then in and out of the car for him…

Hopefully the driveway looks ok - we'd swept it that morning! I'll go out this afternoon and see if I can find a copy.

BTW, I can never find VW Driver, VWM down here in Ashford anywhere nowadays… any ideas for Folkestone, Prowler?

Cheers,

Drew.

Not seen 'Driver' on the shelves in or around for ages, or Canterbury either, Drew. And if I want anyone to order a copy they expect me to take it regularly, and as the mag rarely covers Mk1 I don't want to do that.

Are they not sending you complimentary copies of the mags ? When the Old Faithful was in VW Driver, and the GTI in 'Intersection' I got copies before they hit the shelves.

Yes I got the complimentary copies, but occasionally I wouldn't mind getting the mags from a shop. I usually hear about mk1 articles after the event….

Surely they should be seeking my approval by now

Fingerprints from my 4 year old, "Can I take my crisps in the Golf car, Dad?"

Not a bad article, well researched too.

A couple of typos in the 'News' section unfortunately. Our website address is wrong www.vwgolfmk1.org.mk1 - an entire country devoted to mk1s!! (amazes me how many people in the media still can't spot a bad url immediately)

Oh and Drew Agar - who's he then? I'll leave someone else to do the jokes on bacteria culture….

Very good though, well chuffed overall! Believe it or not it's the first time my mk1 has had an article all to itself!

Cheers,

Drew.
