Number plates
Well….My friend made them for me! He did a set for me and a set for a little friend of mine! It was as a favour so I will have to put it to him and see if he can do any more! I thought the club sticker was too big to stick on my car! Just a personal thing as some people seem to really like it! So I decided it would be better on the plate! :mrgreen:

I like it, but it would have to be a tin top on the side not one of those common cabbies
:wink:

Number plates!
Indeed you are correct Dubboy! They are not officially road legal! However the spacing and type face are correct! I think the only legal plates with a symbol are the european blue with gold stars and the welsh flag! (Because the dvla are in swansea!) Even the GB flag is illegal….So I think there are so many (just) illegal plates out there that it would be very unfortunate to be stopped for this! But yes you are correct! :x

My mk1 has the VW logo on the side in black and chrome and i've never ever had a problem with the law or MOT??? All the fonts are correct and the spacing is spot on though

I am sure you could woo a WPC before she had the handcuffs on anyway.
Or maybe afterwards???

No just kidding…
Just out of curiosity, is the website underneath the lettering also illegal, or is it just the flag / symbol / etc?

Following on from you Walt. It is not ILLEGAL to use a motorcycle numberplate on your car either. They're barely 8inch long and 2inch high
That'll be the Welsh for you!!!!

Strictly speaking the website name on the plate is illegal. I make number plates at one of my jobs quite regularly, our guidelines say something roughly like;
The plate now has to contain the letters and numbers correctly spaced and centred, the postcode and name of the place manufacturing the plates and the customer can choose if they wish either a national flag (English, scottish, welsh or Union jack) or euro GB flag. No other markings are allowed within the plate. 3D, highline and carbon lettering are still legal, but patternd backgrounds are not. We can also no longer offer the customer a personalised phrase at the bottom of the plate. Please note that Silver and black plates can only be supplied to pre 1973 cars on production of a valid V5 document.
Well that's roughly it from memory. On the otherhand, if someone related the the club got the right equipment and license to produce plates, and sold them through the club, then we could put the VWgolfmk1.org.uk address at the bottom quite ligitimately, now there's a thought!

I'd be one of the first to put my name down. I've always been in favour of spending money on my car on ultimately pointless, but cool, stuff rather than sort of any of the fundementals! :wink:we could put the VWgolfmk1.org.uk address at the bottom quite ligitimately, now there's a thought!

You should drink more water.

My number plates have always said 'GOLF GTI' in the bottom where you have the web address Walt, never had a problem with it. Guess no different to when car dealers put their info on reg plates?
