childhood dreams

hi folks don't talk much but i've got really into my golf the past few weeks and keep feeling I need to share stuff

i've read car mags since I was 12 years old and ever since that first day i've always dreamed of my car being featured

i'm a ford man at heart, always have been my first car was a bright orange t reg mk2 mexico and i've owed atleast 5 escorts since( still got a mk6 van but its for sale)

but my dream car is a mk 1 black golf gti(the doctor that lived next door had 1 when I was a kid) and i've got 1 :D

but anyway back to my dream, whats the best way of going about getting in a mag?

the car is about ready now and it's looking(if I dont say so myself) better than lots i've seen featured in club gti mag and its got a good story to go with it, first reg on 10/7/79 must be one of the only t reg rhd gti still on the road. All the 79 gti's i've seen are v reg, i've only seen 1 other and its my mate from scotland and thats what made me buy it he's a fanatic!

cheers stu

Hi,
Best way appart from getting noticed at shows would be write to the magazines and enclose some pics, nice ones in a good location.
Vwmotoring is very approachable. Sometimes though you get your pics taken and its a fair whle till publication.. So get in now..
Any pics to post here either? Ive 2 photojournalist contacts who ill point in the direction..at least when one returns from Dubai

chef's right, contact a few magazines now so that gives them plenty of time to put a feature together, to give you an idea, both my mk3 and mk1 are due to be featured in VWm, the pictures and text where done at a show last august, the edtion they will be in will be this august's (mk3) and september's (mk1) mag's so it will be nearly a year (but will be worth it :D  8) ) is your car standard or modded this will also effect which mag's will be interested, wouldn't hurt to email all the major ones with some text and some pics and go from there, good luck :y:

I'd try VW Motoring and VW Driver first, then perhaps on of the 'Practical Classics' type magazines.

Cheers,

Drew.

PVW, the Golf… if your a club gti member write your own feature and send that in for publication.. all in all get noticed and you may get picked
but in the meantime post a pic for us and enjoy the car. :D
