Cabbies & Scuttle
Finally found one that prised the money out my hand , a pretty stanadrd late 90 Gti in red with leather all appears in immaculate condition (not for the show boys!). Here's the question for the Cabby owners, I know scuttle shake is a fact of life but what are the options that work, for reducing it?

i own a cabby what do you mean by scuttle?
like going over bumpy ground and mumering swear words under your breath, and saying sorry to the car?
personally its part of the car, he/she is teling you to drive slowly and enjoy.
its not much you can do to stop it if its that, other than just get used to it, after all its not a new car buddy, just one of its quirks.

if its a late one it should already have a lower strut brace if not fit one and you could try fitting an upper one this will reduce the scuttle shake

If only it was that easy Paul
OK top strut brace would be an obvious looking bar connecting the tops of the suspension mounts ? (it doesn't have one)
Does anyone have a pic of a bottom brace in situ?
And who makes the best ones?

Don't know where to get those 4 point ones but I know you can get a 2 point OMP one for under ?30 from http://www.strutbracer.co.uk
Let me know how you get on if you fit one, the rattle is starting to get on my nerves!

Many thanks for that pic DJ, when it stops raining I'll pull it out of the garage and take a peek!

have to say i have a top strut brace because its shiny I have to say even with or without it the car handles fine, mind you I haven't driven it round Donnington, or Hulton Park and unless your thinking of doing so I'm not sure that the expense of braces everywhere are going to be cost effective for the benefit you will experience. all you might end up doing is adding weight and it might handle a little better, but it will never be like a go-kart.
