I found one of those in a private sale on the Bay yesterday too... I was quite dissapointed when I saw how little of the car was covered!

Personally I think car bra's are ugly as sin! So not cool
I used to own a mk1 - well I've had 2 actually - YDU 720X & SMU 420Y. Currently I drive an 98 Scotia White Mitsubishi Evolution V RS…. fancy getting another mk1 someday

There are loads of cars in America wit these on. They are pretty awful though - I mean what is the point? You fit it so as not to get stone chips which can make your car ugly - but all it does is make your car even uglier. Given the choice I'd rather drive something everyday with stone chips in the bonnet than something with one of those strapped to the front.

Exactly Steve, whats the point (other than with show cars)? Suppose the paint looks nice when its parked in the garage.

I heard rumours many years ago, that if you left the Bra on the car for ages, then the paint uncovered pain would fade and when you took it off you had a nice shiny unfaded section  . Also also, if again left on too long they can start to sweat and deteriate the pain. Would'nt have thought though that anyone would be stupid enough to leave them on all the time…… ops:

Surely there would also be an issue with moisture getting trapped underneath it if left on overnight?

Yeah - thats right. When you remove the bra you will have tan lines!!
Particularly on a red car - red fades the worst (and there seems to eb loads of red Mk1's about)

I remember as a kid my Dad had one on the GRILLE! (Not bonnet) of his Morris Marina in the winter - but for a purpose!
This one serves no purpose but doesn't even look big enough to be a fashion accessory like the American ones.
IMO they look naff!
