Black MK1 Campaign from "The Cars the Star"

60,000 mile example for ?5k on autotrader....think I might dig out my old betamax tape tonight and watch the old "Cars the Star" MK1 episode cos I cant remember this !!!

Oh yes, I remember this… loved that episode.  Does anybody have a copy on video I could buy? VHS or DVD

For me the "star" of "The Car's the Star" was the black Series 1!

Ive got it on VHS but have no way to copy it - have you ?  If so I could post you it and you can copy and send me it back

Not a lot more to tell really as I cant really remember it but Im gonna watch it again and see - its only 34 miles from me according to the trader website but there aint no pics up it just says:

1983 VOLKSWAGEN Golf GTi Mark 1, 60000 miles, Black, 2owners, FVAGSH, star of cars the star, no modifications whatsoever, very best, only. ?4,995. No offers

I'd love to see that particular episode of 'The car's the star' too.  Has anyone got the means to upload this somewhere so that we can all dowload it?

yep that was my favorite too, I keep meaning to get my video copied onto DVD so it will last better.

I watched it last night and I couldnt see a Campaign - apart from a German one?

I've got this on VHS somewhere, I'll have to dig it out and convert to DVD then upload for the forum.

This is one of the main reasons for my passion for Mk1 Golfs and for buying a campaign all those years ago. There are some classic qutoes from big Quentin(sp) that will live with me forever. Real hairs-standing-up-on-the-back-of-the-neck stuff.

Are just a few off the top of my head. Someone pester me about this and I'll make it available online somewhere (youtube??!!)

I now have "The Car's The Star: Golf GTI" on computer, its in VOB format though, and its 660MB. Also there's copyright issues. If someone obtains permission from the BBC to freely distribute it, I could look into adding it into the website.

I can get the video converted to DVD, just send me a copy of the VHS tape and will get it sorted, been waiting for too long now.

Yeah its cool, I can convert to DVD as well, its just a case of digging the thing out - no idea where it is and might still be up and my Mum and Dad's!!!

I remember that, it was Quentin "car clocker" wilson, and he made silly quips like

"gear change is like spooning honey"  8O (prehaps it is on a brand new one!)

the music on it is pretty cool, Gary Newman to the back drop of a mk1 production line 8)

and all those military personel who imported them from Germany (cheap!), one of those was a black gti iirc? maybe its that one?
