Bad experience with forum member Kangaroo

Bought a mk1 for spares from him last week, he gave me the list of missing parts.

went there (approx 130miles) with recover truck, and saw much more parts gone.

took twice more stuff out of it, than stated.

be careful when buying from him.

A couple of points:

-He deserves a right to reply before any action is taken, after all there are 2 sides to every story
-If found guilty, should be making a part-refund since its "not as described" and another option is to restrict people from posting in the classifieds area but unchanged elsewhere.
- I've said many times, the club should have an official dispute resolution service. This serves 2 roles, as well as resolving disputes it acts as a deterrent, discouraging people from "trying it on" when advertising on here. Don't underestimate the amount of forum traffic solely on classifieds.

I agree there should be a "resolving disputes section", the only problem here is if your buying of a (none paid) member then there is little we can do as they are untraceable at least with paid members we do have their details.

I have to say that every case of this type i have looked into over the past year the seller has been a none paid member, my advise as always  try if you can to buy from paid members, check the user and see how long they have been registered with the club  and look at their post count and the content of the posts, if they are new with few posts then buyer beware.

Dont ask what your club can do for you, but what can you do for your club?

This isn't a "I recieved item and it's not as described" he went and collected the car so I'm pretty sure he looked at what he was buying? It's a bit sly to remove the fuel pump and sender but the other parts would have been pretty obvious I would have thought.

That's fair enough if you went to see it before committing to buy, then while you were there decided to buy it and take it home. But in this case, the transaction wasn't face-to-face, the buyer and seller had some dialogue which included a list of parts present and missing parts. Then they did a deal. Then he collected it, incurring costs in doing so (recovery truck + 260 miles round trip).

He went there with his truck. So still had chance to walk away.

I'm not on kangaroos side but if it was me I'd have either told him to f himself or paid less, failing that I'd have torched the car for wasting my time. Lol

I hear what you're saying but if you knew about the missing parts, you might not have made the trip in the first place, thus saving you the hundreds of pounds transport costs. I reckon a deal's a deal, and it occurred well before setting off, so its definitely a case of breaking the contract.

i dont have my own truck, and my friend collected it, had to pay 150£ for that. theres no point go there to have a look, and go back, loosing 150£…
anyway, i will get my money back on parts, just the fact is that its not as described.
contacted the seller yesterday, and he was happy to post out some missing parts. so waiting for a parcel in the post, and if i get it, then we can delete this topic.

yes, i will be in the AGM. see you on the M1 friday eve! :D

I am not in anyway involved with the seller Kangaroo in any way shape or form & wasn't going to say much BUT, i noticed you are the seller on ebay that's selling the brake discs that originally you stated had only done 1 mile.
I was getting them for a friend of mine whom doesn't have ebay etc.
Yet when they arrived they were nothing like you show in your picture, here they are the ones you sent me.
Fair enough you give me full refund and so you should as you falsely and dishonestly described something to me, and i lost a further £8 having to send them back to you which if honest picture and desciption given in first place i wouldn't have bought them.
So can i suggest before you start naming and shaming, what goes round comes round.
Not nice when someone else cost you money is it.

Original sale:

After i returned them

The actual disc for sale which i returned:

if you would buy a new pair of discs, and leave them in the garage for a half year, they would be looking the same as these, but the fact is that these discs wasnt done not even a mile, and that could confirm one of this forum members, from who i bought the car with them discs.
i know we all make a mistakes, and that wouldnt happened, if i wouldnt be selling them. i lost 10£, you lost 8£, but not 150…
i wasnt hiding from you, i wasnt ignoring your emails, etc…
im all ways happy to help when there is an issue, if you will need any more parts in the future i will do some discount because of this, just remind me that.

Me personally i will not buy from you in the near or distant future merely on this incident plus the way too high prices you charge.
Reason you couldn't hide from me was the sale was via ebay and paypal so you had no other alternative but to resolve the issue.
As regards the amount, that £8 was taken from my childrens mouths so to me it counts alot.
I appreciate the offer but i will decline.

see, if people buying stuff for high prices, so whats the reason i should be giving them away for free? i can all ways do a deal on paypal as a gift, no ebay/paypal fees, approx 15% off…
plus no one realizes that im not clearing my shed, its my business, im paying insane unit rent, business rates, vat, etc etc

Ok, time for me to defend myself!

I was approached by Cilitkas as he wanted to buy all the LHD part for the US spec LHD Golf I had got hold of. I said fine and sent him pics and agreed a price. I took the parts off the car I needed and we had agreed. Then we spoke on the phone and he asked where various bits were in the photos I explained and we agreed a price again, job done.
He said he would come to collect the car the next day.
He didnt turn up but one of his mates did. They talked on the phone, the car was exactly as agreed and money changed hands. The car disappeared, I thought all was well, until reading this post and getting abusive messages from Cilitkas.
It was not as if he didnt know what he was buying, plenty of photos were sent. As for the fuel sender… that was kept by the bloke who I bought the car off for his car and I didnt hide the fact it was removed. yes the cover was on, but if it wasnt the tank would have been full of water.

So, moving on, I agreed to send him some of the parts that were removed, like sunvisors and mirrors etc as he considered them part of the LHD setup etc… those went to him today.

I dont know what else to say other than the fact he has a solid car (with loads of bits to sell as he is obviously a breaker) with the PAS, Engine Gearbox, Clipper Kit, Wings, lights grille plus much more. This club used to be a friendly place and I feel most disappointed and annoyed as I have let alot of people down who did want bits of the car but I decided to sell the rolling shell to one individual, how I wish I hadn't now! I also see he has alot of the parts of the car for sale on ebay now and if you dont make the small amount back you paid for the car on just a couple of those bits I shall be amased!

I am not a breaker I bought the car to keep my car going with things like roof seals, fuel lines, interior etc… I paid an awful lot more for the car than he did from me as we wanted it gone.

I do consider this thing against me as slander and would like the mods to delete this post/thread please.

Thanks for your time.

yep I drove the car home, and gave him the part back, The bloke I bought it from lives about 2 miles from me. He needed the bit for his mk1 GTI, just the same as I needed the driveshafts.
Anyway you should receive the parcel of bits tomorow or monday. I have a tracking number so will be able to see when you have got it. The parts contained I am sure you will make good money on as well… (and I have photos of these as well )
