any good mechanics out there

Can anybody help me, i am in need of a good mechanic in the blackburn lancashire area, that can get my well loved mk1 golf convertable running smooth again, like a fool i power washed my engine last october (NEVER DO THIS) and its cost me a thousand quid so for to get her running, but she's still running very badly and nobody seems to know why.
after a new ecu and other new parts she should be running like a dream but there must be something everybody is missing, so could somebody PLEASE help me.

Hiya ….

Check our "Garages and Specialists" section on the main forum (scroll down a bit).  We tend to put good and bad experiences in here so if you check in your area you may be able to see who's near you, who to go to and who to avoid.  I've put a link here just to help you out:-

What year and model is it? I am in Cheshire so its probably a bit too far to come, but I'd do my best to sort it out.

I degreased my mk1 driver when I was 18 then went and jet washed it… hence the break down… both of the car … and myself emmotionally LOL!!!

It took a jump start, a lot of spluttering and a telling off from the old man before it'd start again… seems i was lucky

Don't think it's that rare a thing to do mate…. just some thing that some people try when they cleaned their engine while it's still in their car.. you do learn it's not a good idea quite quickly though

Hiya mate, where are you in Blackburn?? I'm in Rishton. Who've you used / seen?? I use a mate Manchester way but a bloke I know through work has put me onto a VW man who's local (and allegedly good  :D ).

I no longer have the Mk1!! I now whizz round in a Black 1990 3dr Mk2 GTi 8v but the roof doesn't fold back when the sun shines :o

a mate of mine was going to do has in a mk2, i told him not to, so he didn't.

"try not to let an engine get wet" was one of the first things my dad taught me. as we were trying to get it stated after going through a ford.
