Good luck ben!

I gave up 3 years ago on Monday (not that I'm counting the days or anything!) after 16 years of smoking.

I still crave a roll-up now and again but damn glad I gave up - plus it's so damn expensive to smoke now!! 8O

Cheers
Andy

Good luck with it. I gave up about five years ago now so it can be done, even by an idiot like me.

If the will is there the way will follow.

Good luck to you!

Keep it up!!

Stay busy!  They say the nicotine only stays in your bloodstream for three days, so your past the worst bit.  All down to will power now.

Good luck :)

I packed up 6 days ago after 10 years and am up and down. sometimes could murder one and sometimes don't think about it. Not using patches or anything just will power. Really worried about next weekend. My Girlfriend is flying out to see me and she smokes so really gotta try not too when she's around especially if we're drinking and after you know what.
It's a bit easier out here as you're not allowed to smoke in public places, Think this is coming in to the UK in June (correct me if I'm wrong).

I think it's fantastic, even when I smoked it's so nice to be able to wear decent clothes and not have to worry about someone brushing against you and burning them or everything smelling of smoke.
What are people opinions on this??

Sorry to hijack this post.. Are you still a non smoker?? Have you got any tips for me??

My other half was working for an advertising firm last year and had the opportunity to go on the Wright Stuff (Channel 5) to take part in an experiment.  Four people drew straws on set to find out which method they would use: Reading the Alan Carr book, patches, hypnotherapy and going cold turkey.  They returned to the show 2 weeks later and the girl who went cold turkey (quitting naturally) lasted 1 day, the guy who read the book still hadn't smoked and the other girl who had the patches lasted 5 days.  My missus was hypnotized and didn't smoke for 6 weeks.  She had never been hypnotized before and was a bit reluctant.  Afterwards, she couldn't quite work out why she didn't want to smoke.  She still had cravings for something but her mind was telling her it wasn't cigarettes.  So she ended up putting a stone on!

Anyways, there's no moral to the story.  Best thing to do is to try a few different methods until you find one that suits you.
Before I tried to give up, I bought a load of food from Sainsbury's, bought and hired a few PS2 games and DVDs and locked myself in the house for 3 days.  Didn't smoke for 3 months after that - neither did I touch my PS2 again.
