5th gear votes the new Golf GTI as car of the year

The new classics magazine has hit the shelves which features 2 red Golfs, one being a mk1 the other a mk5. Red looks to be the new fad for the golfs. Time for a respray?

Just back from a another drive in the mk5 on public roads this time…. great fun, you can just throw it around anywhere with no fear of losing control. It was a manual box this time which didn't feel as quick as the dsg but still very impressive

Yeh, I bet the new Golf GTI is fantastic at a price though!

The early Mk1 Golf GTI prices are going through the roof, one example is on sale in one of the current mags for 6 grand. The s2 Golf GTI will also (imo) shoot up shortly, parts are limited and many are cars are going to the scrapper. The new Golf GTI will lose value by the day.
