1980 mk1
Have the chance of buying a 1980 mk1 gti (non sunroof) with all period features except the early rear panel as somebody has put a later big light one in when the car was restored 6 years ago
an early rear panel is included in the sale
the car has no rot/rust and paint is good but slightly pink, the car has no tax/test.
Question is, how much is she worth?

Looks very sweet
You often get the 'correct' alloys on ebay cheap. Any more details?

Car is between B and D on the guide
as the car has no MOT, but a runner with no mechanical defects and body is rock solid with no rust/rot.
i think it will be ?500 well spent
seems a shame to track it, but period bits will be sold/swapped for track bits

You`d think it would be worth more but if you think you`ve got to source the seats, alloys, fit the rear valence mot and sort out any hidden dangers. If solid and it drives fine then no reason it should`nt fetch 1000 IMO…

well i will see tonight when i view the car, he has a mint set of early alloysaswell for ?80, but if i track it they would be no good to me as i will want 7x13 wheels.

I'd be interested in the alloys if they all look like that! Let me know if you don't want them.

I will try and get them thrown in with the sale
Trouble being (for you) i am in N.Ireland :dontknow: apparently it is 5 wheels and one is the original tyre from 1980

Why not use a S1 on the track? Next, you'll be saying don't use a nice S2 on the track! You don't need to modify it to do trackdays, it will probably be fast enough as it is. The only mods required are taping up the lights, everything else is fine.

Well they look in better condition than mine anyway!! I guess the cost of them in adition to getting them posted wouldn't be much different to me getting my own refurbished. Nevermind.

Yes i suppose it will be quick enough i suppose brakes and suspension will be the main things to sort out, apparently it has a 1.8 engine in already but i am not too sure of the engine code, i suppose a ported head with a cam would be good enough along with panel filter and exhaustpaul_c said
