'Ultra rare E-bay item'
I have seen these in every GTI in which I've ever looked for them - surely these were a standard fit?

I would tend to agree - saw them in a few LHD Golfs and in a 2-door Jetta(!) that were in breakers over the years, but never in a UK or Irl-spec car.
PS: They're not that desireable, as they only get used when you are folding the rear seats down/back up and, if you want to retro fit them, you'll have to drill holes 8O in the painted area below the rear side windows.

They are useful as they make the back seat belts look tidy, even with the seats up (mine belts hardly used - passengers are just another wieght to slow you down  )
How about that for a complete about face.
Cheers

What I also removed from the 2-door Jetta, but did fit to my GTI was the extra headlining section that covers the painted area below the rear side windows and B pillars, and also the (2-door) door cappings from between the door-cards and the door windows (like the cabrio ones, but with the rear end shaped for doors with window-frames). The car was a Lemon Yellow 1980 2-door Jetta originally registered in Switzerland, but imported to Ireland towards the (very rusty) end of its life.
No part numbers visible on any of them, before you ask…

Those trim covers were fitted on all luxury versions of Series 1 Golf. I have them on my LS (and L I think but would have to check). I am not sure about Series 2. For sure they are not for the GTi. The PNs are on ETKA but sadly obsolete from VW some time ago.
