Service / Tune -up

Hi

My son is now the proud owner of a bog standard VW Golf MK1 1983 Model.

I need some help and guidence in so much as it needing a good service / tune up. It seems rather heavy on fuel and I have suggested to him that we find someone whom has experience in this Model of car with regards servicing (not a dealership!!). I have suggested replacing: spark plugs, points, condensor, Distributor Cap & Rotor, Airfilter, Fuel filter and Oil Filter as a start. I feel the Carb needs checking with regards Choke operation, Idle mixture and overall operation.

We live In the Midlands, in the village of Silverstone so any help and guidance will be appreciated.

Thanks for the welcome and no cannot speak Swahili and yes did enjoy the Lion King. It's our house name as it means "no worries" – YEH right !!!!

Thanks for the link, I saw that earlier and will see if the garage is still going.

There is a Vdub group meeting held in or around Northampton (last wednesday of each month) which my lad is going to attend. Hopefully he will meet someone whom can help.
