Will a !.6 Gti Exhaust fit a 1.8 Gti?

I've been offered a tidy back box but it's off a 1.6 Gti and I have a Rivage cab 1.8 Gti, will it fit? What are the standard diameters?

Yes, I have a s/s box from a 1600 GTI fitted to my car and it mated perfectly at the flange to the rest of my 1800 GTI exhaust, it does however grunt a little more and sounds a lot better.

I think you have to watch out for the differences in the brackets to the rubbers.

1.6 gti exhaust has mounting brackets for two rubbers near the join to centre pipe where as the cabriolet one doesn't.

the 1.8 tin top does though.
1.6 box should fit fine, though the factory items were different boxes.

It will not fit as it'll be designed for a car with small bumpers. The tail pipe is bent differently for big bumper cabrios. Also, as already stated, the brackets are in different places.
Its best to get a Ernst one from GSF or Eurocarparts. If the whole thing needs doing though then perhaps consider a full stainless?

I might be completely wrong but don't all back boxes stick out about the same? Isn't the same as when I had my Mk2 gti and most exhaust manufacturers compensate for the larger bumpers thats why they look a bit long on models with the smaller bumpers?
