twin carb fuel flow

i have twin dcnf 40 webers fitted to a 2.0 8v engine and a facet solid state fuel pump fitted where the original gti injection pump was, its wired off the original wiring and relay. there is a simple fuel filter fitted immediately before the carbs. the problem is when the car has been left for a few days, the filter is empty as the fuel has flowed back toward the tank under gravity ,  so the car starts then immediately stalls as the fuel level falls low. on the second attempt it will start after the pump has filled filter then the cards.

is it possible to replace the fuel pump relay so as to prime the fuel system before starting , as the relay thats fitted now only starts when the motor is running or starting

that should happen anyway

when you flick the ignition switch on you should get a short feed to pump to prime the system,  or what you could do for the time being is fit a 1 way valve :wink:
