tuning/setting the metering head

hello everyone

my mk1 needs tuning again, i had it tuned a while back and dew to different reasons it needs doing again!

instead of paying some one to keep doing it, i am thinking of buying a gas analyser thing, and doing it myself regularly, to ensure the car is running spot on always.

basically could i have advice on what i will need to buy to carry out this task, and what methods i will need to use. Also Where should it all be set at, ie ideal figures?

cheers

jason

Gas analysers are not cheap. I belive there is a a device one can plug into the O2 sensor and use to it to tune. I think Edelbrock makes on for tuning carburators. But it would also work for you as well. What makes you think your injection needs adjusting? This is something that is usally left alone.

Gas analyser is ?75 from Halfords, probably cheaper on eBay, etc. The Golf doesn't have a lambda sensor as standard, to add one you're looking at around ?150??? for the kit. (Embarrasingly, I have one but can't remember how much it cost).

I have a Gunstons CO2 machine that i got from my ex's dad, I have never used it but now I have a car I can tweek I will do so I too would like to know what the ideal settings should be for C)2 level and also the timing, as my engine is just being finished running in and I plan to change the air filter for a KN one and also fit a free flow exhaust at the weekend so it will need adjusting.
