Straight through pipe, lose torque? too noisey?

As i said in another are im looking at getting a straight through pipe no silencer, supersprint 321303, has anyone got this, or heard a car with one etc?

2 things id like to know are:
is it too noisey?! (i want a very quiet exhaust, if possible. For motorway driving.)
and
will it lose torque?  Ive read a few places that these will lose torque because of the back pressure being less, so i dont know.
I found one fairly cheap, so i dont know what to do.

Any ideas or comments would be appreciated.

I am replacing this as my car is too low for the middle box that i have that powerflow fitted, it scrapes and i dont want to wear it out if selling it or anything.

Hey si! got yer txt msg today.I have the same problem as you , as in the full exhaust is welded right through. The route im gona take is get a 1.8GTI manifold and downpipe. and do some fabrication on the center pipe. the rear box is already slotted and not welded, so iam ok there.

As to to yours. go original if you can. but iam eventully gona go custom.eg powerflow. my last 2 cars had a  powerflow and is really a very good system.

hi agian i have found you only lose torque when changing back box i had a powerflow system once on my 84 mk2 gti with a stright trow no boxs at all just back box very loud plus my tail pipes went black because of the heat so i changed tail pipe and put powerflow center box in and that car  now's around 140bhp and very fast for an 8v so id say 2 baxs min
