still a non start

Ok anyone help with this problem- new fuel pump , accumulator, fuel filter- new fuel lines - new injectors. no fuel getting to the injectors.
The plunger in the fuel distributor unit had seized, so it was freed up with carb cleaner- fuel is getting to the connectors at the top of the fuel distributor - but not to the injectors.I have taken off the injector lines and made sure they are not blocked
If i lift the air pressure plate with the ignition on - i hear nothing - is that right? i thought you should hear the fuel pump through to the injector lines-
anyone got any ideas?

I had this exact problem - the first problem I had was I assumed that the new fuel pump I had was working (which it wasn't), and the second was that the fuel supply pipe out of the tank was blocked.

You should be able to hear the fuel pump prime when the key is in the first position, but if not it should definitely spin when you turn the engine over on the starter. If not, that'll be the problem. You can also bridge the connections on the fusebox with some wire and a switch, and manually switch the pump on and off to check that it works.

If the pump's ok I'd check the fuel tank (and fuel filler neck if it's old). If you remove the supply line to the pump from the tank, fuel should pour  out freely - if not then you've got a blockage. The most likely cause of a blockage will be bits of rusty filler neck in the tank.

I thought of this too, but its a new filler neck and the fuel tank was cleaned out as well- fuel is getting to the fuel distributor and the fuel pump is pumping fuel - there is no blockage up to the fuel distributor

Even though fuel reaches the metering head, it may not be high enough pressure to open the injectors.

What happens if you unscrew the fuel lines to the injectors at the injector end, then switch the ignition on and lift the flap?

If you get loads of fuel gushing out then the injectors may be the cause of the problem - if not it'll probably be low system pressure, perhaps from a partial blockage somewhere. Crazyquiff sells a kit to test the fuel pressure which may be of use if the latter is the case.

One final thought - have you got the fuel feed and return lines connected correctly at each end to the metering head and the tank (i.e. is the feed from the tank connected to the inlet to the metering head, and vice versa)?

fuel

guess what i had same problem my car not bein ran for 15 year
my prob was in fuel dist just had mess on take pressure valve out of it which is screwed in on head next to fuel pipe make sure plunger is free or will just return fuel back to tank wiht out keeping pressure in head next thing i did when still no joy take three screws out of fuel dist head make sure plunger is free mine was stuck with little bit muck after cleaned it worked fine you can take injector line off crank over you get very little fuel through then lift it off from air filter push plunger up shud get loads fuel throgh after you cranked it over so fuel pump clicks in as its worked off supply off spark amp so if you have no spark you have no fuel you will only have noise off fuel dist when pressure return valve is opening

i know does ya head in took me a week get my to work all i can say good luck      parts are hard to find what are in good working order as i found out just taking peoples word off ebay that then dont work

non start

Well I feel a bit of a wally!  After realising I had put the HT leads in the wrong order, i managed to get a start with the help of easy start. However it will not tick over and feels like its running on three cylinders. I have established I,m not getting anything through the cold start valve which will explain the non start. Has anyone got any ideas on the flat running? would fitting a new cambelt a couple of cogs out account for the rough running?

car running

think all your problem still down to fuel dist as you shud have full preussre on cold start that used be only way i could keep my car running by put two wires on so was putting fuel in all time would not advise running on easy start as will nack the valves which will just mean more work if you take fuel pipe off you shud get fuel by bucket full out of it is it returning back to tank ok if not much fuel coming throw you will have to strip fuel dist   also forgot say have you checked main fuel filter as mine was blocked thats were crap came from what went in to fuel dist and there is filters on each fuel injector line if take pipes off you can see them just screw self tapper in by hand and pull them out to clean them
after all that just have try diferent fuel dist but make sure most numbers match up on side as well help to match to injectors
