Splutters when i put my foot down

Hello again,
I seem to be constantly asking questions here.

I got my golf on the track in quick time altough it wasnt running perfectley i just wanted to get out there!

Only 1 problem really, when i initallialy put my foot down quickly it splutters a bit sounds like a v8 then the revs catch on and revs higher, its the inital start of putting my foot down fast. when i slowly put my foot down to rev it ok.

Was told to clean injectors with cleaner in fuel but to no great joy! has anyone encountered this or think it also injector problem

sounds like fuel. could be low on pressure or just lean. what's the general idle/starting/power like? tried checking the electrics? make sure the vacuum hose is connected to the dizzy.

ah! i thought some one may say this, pressure! i have a fuel tank in the back of car and have braided fuel hose running through car straight to fuel filter, but no accumulator (altough the vw garage set this up and didnt say it would cause a problem)

power is good when the revs get up after changing gear but it does splutter again sometimes at high revs.

theres not much electrics in it, all has been ripped out - but think that is good as it was sorted by VW mechanic

general idle is good, and gets better when its had time to get warm
vacum hose on dizzy is new.

no fuel accumulator?! not 100% but i would say that's your problem. basicly the fuel is not getting from the tank to the engine as quick as your right foot is going down.

To quote from this site

The accumulator is the first of the components in the fuel system after the pump. This unit has an important role to fill in the operation of the Bosch K Jetronic system.

Its first job is to help smooth out any pulses in the flow of the fuel, this is achieved by passing the fuel through a series of baffles and into a chamber giving it slight capacitance and a much smother flow. Its other and possibly more important role is to maintain pressure within the system when the fuel pump has been switched off; this is achieved by the accumulator spring and diaphragm pushing against the fuel. For the duration that the engine is running, the diaphragm will be against its stop within the spring's chamber. When the engine is stopped and all of the non-return valves close, the spring pressure against the diaphragm will maintain the residual or holding pressure and overcome any slight seepage.

Within the data books for this system, it is shown that the critical time for maintaining these pressures, is between 5 and 20 minutes. After a journey, when the engine is switched off, the under bonnet temperature increases causing the fuel in the lines to heat and it attempts to evaporate.
Maintaining the pressure eliminates this problem and ensures a clean start when the vehicle has been standing with a hot engine.

Sounds like it's misfiring under heavy throttle load - lack of accumulator could effect this. Could also be a dodgy fuel injector - best way to test them is follow Prowlers fuel injector test. The injectors aren't servicable and you can't really clean them other than sticking fuel cleaner in the petrol. Don't bother paying a garage the ?60 or so they will charge for injector cleaning either as you can buy new genuine injectors for ?25-30 each.

Many thanks for all the helpfull info.

I think an accumulator would be a good idea to do, Damm ! more messing around with fuel lines.

Will a Mk2 accumulator be sufficient ?

LOL,

Were does it need to be installed just after the fuel pump or will it work the same just before the fuel filter. ???

Im thinking of installing a universal adjustable regulator and bang the pressure up a little more while im there, any one have any experience with these?
