Rubber hose from separator to inline filter
I am trying to replace all the rubber fuel hoses on my Clipper. This small black hose from the fuel separator to the fuel tank appears to have a plastic insert, which I guess is some form of a non-return valve. Can I replace this hose from the fuel separator directly to the inline fuel filter with a rubber hose without using a "non-return valve" (if that's what it is)?

This is the white insert I was on about. Any ideas what it is?

My guess is I fits in the end of the small hardpipe to stop it crushing.
Or it's a restrictor to keep pressure in the fuel pot?
Pm pedders he will know!

Never seen one before on any of my golf's & scirocco's, i replaced mine over a year ago with standard fuel piping and no problems, i have been round to my c reg mk2 and removed that pipe and again no other parts aprt from fuel pipe are their, so i think your ok to leave it off fella

Thanks for the replys
What I've done is to insert the white plastic piece into the new pipe and connect
it back up to the separator bowl.
Having done this it looks like the petrol would squirt in under higher pressure
the small black pipe has VW stamped on it so I think its all original :dontknow:
