Removeing Fuel Accumulator
Hi everyone,
Need some advice on how to take the fuel accumulator off my mk1 golf gti '83.
Looking in the haynes manual it only gives me one picture, looks like theres two hoses screwed onto this but it doesnt have any instructions on removing it.
I'm hoping its a fairly simple procedure to do as I need to replace it on my golf, the garage said its the source of the hot start problems I'm having.
If I remove it, would petrol start comming out of the tank or would the valve in the fuel pump prevent much petrol leaking ?
Cheers for any advice given,
James.

Identify the accumulator under the car then soak all the bolts and hose fixings with WD40 or similar for a few days before you want to tackle the job , this will aid removal later
Fuel should not leak out as it is fed to the pump first , its quite simple 2 fuel hoses to undo and a large clamp holds it in place …….Rust and access is the main problem …
Good luck…………
